Perknomad rebuilds bathrooms properly — certified waterproofing, rectified tiling that lines up, and shower niches cut to a millimetre. We work in occupied homes across Perth, keep the dust contained, and hand back a wet area that passes inspection first time.
Small rooms with the least margin for error
A bathroom is the one room where a 5 mm mistake costs you a whole re-tile. Every Perknomad bathroom is set out on a laser datum line before the first sheet of board goes up.
Certified waterproofing, every time
We only use two waterproofing systems and both are certificate-issued by the installer, not the manufacturer. You get the compliance paperwork emailed to you the day the membrane cures, ready for any future insurance claim.
Falls that actually drain
Shower floor falls are cut with a level, not eyeballed. Water runs to the waste within a couple of seconds, and there's never a puddle sitting in the corner by the second month.
Set-out that lines up
Full-height tiling lives or dies on the set-out. We plane the wall first, centre the layout on the most visible sight line, and cut so the corner joint is a full tile rather than a sliver.
Strip it back to the frame, then build it forward
Bathroom renos are unforgiving because five waterproofing-critical layers all have to talk to each other: substrate, screed, membrane, tile adhesive, and tile. Perknomad strips the room back to studs and joists, replaces any rotten framing, sheets the walls with wet-area board, then runs a bonded membrane with pre-formed corners. From there it's screed, tiling, tapware, glass and a final silicone finish. We don't rush the cure times — that's how you get a leak three years later.
There's a temporary shower set up in the laundry or second bathroom while we work, so the household keeps functioning. Nobody's sponging off at the gym for two weeks.

Two hundred and sixty-eight bathrooms deep
Perknomad started tiling bathrooms in 2017 for two builders in Subiaco who needed an after-hours crew. That work taught us where wet areas fail and how much of it comes down to patience with cure times. We're still a small team, still on the tools, and still ringing the same tiler we've worked with since day one.
The tiler worked around our toddler's nap times without being asked. Certificates for the waterproofing were in my inbox before I even paid the final invoice. Straight-up operation, no dramas.
Where the trade went from side job to staple
The milestones below aren't just growth numbers. Each one changed how we run a bathroom job — the 2020 waterproofing certification is what got us onto builder panels, and the 2024 templated glass partnership is why screens arrive on the day we tile, not ten days later.

Seven steps from demo day to certificate
Bathrooms are sequenced tighter than any other room in the house. Here's the order we work in, and what you'll see on site at each stage.
Measure, plan and confirm layout
We check the waste position, ceiling height, window reveals and door swing before anything is drawn. The layout you sign off is the layout we build.
Wet-area sheeting and rough-in
New cement sheet goes on after the plumber and sparky rough in their lines. Shower recess and niche framing are formed and squared here.
Tiling walls, floors and niche
Floor build-up and falls go down first, then walls from the datum line up. Mitred edges, a cut niche and a full-tile corner joint are all standard.
Strip-out and framing check
Tiles, screed, vanity and old fixtures come out in one controlled day. We check for rotten framing and any dodgy past waterproofing, and price any repair in writing.
Waterproofing membrane and cure
Bonded membrane with pre-formed corners and a reinforced band at every junction. Then we walk away for 72 hours and let it cure properly.
Tapware, vanity and screen fit-off
Vanity set, stone top fitted, tapware installed and tested, glass screen templated and mounted, and ventilation fan wired and balanced.
Old Perth bathrooms often hide more than they show. If we open the floor and find failed drainage or collapsed joists, we stop and quote before anyone keeps going.

Get Your Bathroom AnsweredUsually eleven to fourteen days from demo. We plumb a temporary shower into the laundry or second bathroom the same day we start tearing out, so you're never sponging out of a bucket.
Ten years on the wet-area membrane, and both installers are certified to issue the compliance certificate in their own name. You get the paperwork emailed within 24 hours of the membrane passing its test.
Keeping the layout saves between two and four thousand on a typical job, because you skip relocated drainage and the extra screeding that comes with it. If the current layout is genuinely working, it's usually worth keeping.
Hidden damage behind the wall — rotten framing, no shower falls on the previous build, or a waste line that was never roughed in properly. We always inspect on strip-out and quote any repair before we continue.
Either way works. Most clients pick their finishes from our Subiaco showroom list because we already know what holds up and what tiles won't cup in a wet area. If you've got your own supplier, we're happy to tile to it.
